Score: St. Bonaventure defeated Charlotte 81-62 in the First Round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
Key Statistics: St. Bonaventure had 18 assists on 27 field goals, while the 49ers had seven assists on 22 field goals. St. Bonaventure outrebounded Charlotte 39-35. St. Bonaventure had 36 points in the paint compared to Charlotte’s 22. St. Bonaventure shot 22-29 from the free throw line, while Charlotte shot 17-20.
Healy’s High: Katie Healy broke her career-high with 28 points. She also collected 12 rebounds and had five assists. Her 28 points broke St. Bonaventure’s record for most points in a postseason game previously held by Dana Mitchell.
Bowker Ball: Chelsea Bowker did what she does best—knock down threes. She had four on the game, including three in the second half to put Charlotte away. She needs 14 points to reach 1000 for her career.
Hammonds Plays Hard: Charlotte’s Ny Hammonds played exceptionally well scoring 23 points and seven rebounds as she played the entire game.
Second-Half Turnaround: Charlotte led 26-25 at break, but St. Bonaventure outscored Charlotte 56-36 in the second. The Bonnies shot 53.1 percent from the field after halftime.
All-Around Game: Hannah Little played phenomenal for St. Bonaventure as she had 20 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals.
What’s Next: St. Bonaventure advances to the Second Round where they will meet Bowling Green in Ohio on Monday night.
