Men’s soccer: Mahler resigns as head coach

St. Bonaventure men’s soccer coach Mel Mahler has resigned, according to players.

Players were told the news in a meeting with outgoing athletic director Steve Watson and associate athletic director for internal operations Steve Campbell. Athletic officials could not be reached for comment.

Mahler, who was hired in the summer of 2005, went 57-103-18 as Bonnies coach, with a 1-15 record this season. The team will graduate 12 seniors in May.

There is no set timetable for a new coach to be hired, as school administrators are currently searching for a new athletic director.
