St. Bonaventure will open its 2015-2016 season by hosting Siena in the Preseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) tonight in the Reilly Center.

Last year, Siena recorded a 22-13 record and reached the championship game of the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI).  Last season was also the first time Siena posted a winning record in 11 years. However, the Saints are without its leading scorer from a year ago.  Graduated guard Tehresa Coles averaged 13.2 points and 2.9 assists during the 2014-2015 season.

The Saints, with key returnees Margot Hetzke and Meghan Donahue, are making their second appearance in the Preseason WNIT. Hetzke averaged 12.7 points a game last season and was named a All-MAAC second team preseason selection. Donahue, a 6-foot-1 junior, averaged 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last year and was also named to the conference’s preseason second team.

The Bonnies are coming off an exhibition win against Edinboro where sophomore Miranda Drummond and senior Nyla Rueter netted 16 points apiece. Should St. Bonaventure beat Siena, it will advance to the second round on Sunday and face the winner of DePaul v.s. Southern Illinois.

Tipoff between the Bonnies and the Saints is at 5:30, with the Bonaventure men’s team taking on Binghamton immediately after.
