Women’s basketball: Bonnies return home to face Detroit

By Katie Faulkner @kfaulkner20

The St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team will return home tonight as they take on Detroit at 5 p.m. The Bonnies return home after a pair of back-to-back road losses in Preseason WNIT play, at DePaul on Nov. 15 and Drexel on Nov. 21.

The Bonnies found themselves in the same situation a season ago after winning their preseason opener and then dropping their next two games. They got back on track with a 68-56 win over Detroit in their fourth game of the season.

Detroit is seeking its first win of the season after coming off an 0-3 start, including two home losses against Bradley (75-67) and Michigan (88-61). The Titans finished 12-18 overall last season and went 7-9 in the Horizon League.  They return three starters from last year’s squad, including redshirt junior Rosanna Reynolds, who averaged 15.7 points per game. The Titans also return junior forward Haleigh Ristovski, who averaged 9.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while leading the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio last season.

The brown and white held Detroit to just 33.3 percent (19-57) shooting from the floor in last year’s game, but the Titans knocked down eight three-pointers.

The Bonnies are averaging 20.3 turnovers per game so far this season.  They must clean up their passing and maintain better ball control to allow more opportunities on the offensive end.
