An update to St. Bonaventure’s 2016-17 men’s basketball schedule lists the Alfred University Saxons as the Bonnies’ exhibition opponent on Nov. 5. The men will follow the women, who have not listed their exhibition yet, in a doubleheader.
The Division III Saxons, who went 10-15 last season, replace the Division II Mansfield Mountaineers, who SBU had played each of the past eight seasons. Mansfield is facing Duquesne, one of Bona’s A-10 rivals, on the same day.
The major storyline in this otherwise unnoteworthy game? Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt will be coaching against his sons, rising junior Nick and incoming freshman Derek.
Bonaventure won all eight matchups with the Mountaineers, with a 30-point average margin of victory. The 2015 meeting was the least competitive, as the brown and white ran away with a 108-48 victory.
