Members of the St. Bonaventure University community gathered in front of Plassmann Hall on Monday to show solidarity with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.The program allows undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children to remain in the country and work without threat of deportation.
Haylei John, president of the Student Government Association, welcomed the crowd and thanked them for showing their support.Last week, President Trump announced plans to rescind the program, which employs nearly 800,000 people.Parker Suddeth, coordinator of the Damietta Center for Multicultural Student Affairs, sang the protest song Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around.Father Michael D. Calabria offered a prayer to immigrants currently in the United States and around the world.Students, faculty and staff bowed their heads in prayer with Calabria.
