The St. Bonaventure Bonnies returned to their winning ways as they picked up their second win in Atlantic Conference 10 play in the Reilly Center against University of Fordham Rams 77-61.
Bonnies forward Ladarien Griffin had a career night for the Bonnies, as he finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds. This is Griffin’s third double-double of the season.
Forward Courtney Stockard finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
In the first half the lead was going back and forth between the two teams. Going into the half, the Bonnies led the Rams 34-31.
Griffin and Bonnies began to pull away in the second half. The Bonnies started the half on a 7-0 run. Griffin scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half.
Points in the paint and bench points were important aspects of the Bonnies win.
Bonnies outscored the Rams in the paint 52-18. The Bonnies bench outscored the Rams bench 30-2.
With the Bonnies on a previous two-game skid this win ends their longest losing streak of the season.
St. Bonaventure heads to Rhode Island for the first of two meetings with the Rams this Saturday. The game will be at 11 a.m. in the Ryan Center and will be televised on ESPNU.
