The St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team lost to the Bucknell Bison, 77-46, Thursday night at the Reilly Center.

The Bison got contributions from up and down their roster, with four players scoring in double digits.

Ally Johnson, Kate Walker, Ellie Mack and Abby Kapp all scored at least 12 points for Bucknell. Johnson led the team with 14 points.

After a back-and-forth start to the game, Bucknell pulled away in the second quarter, using an 11-1 run to take a 12-point halftime lead.

The Bison then came out firing in the second half, scoring eight points in the first two minutes of the third quarter before Bonnies coach Jesse Fleming called timeout.

“I was disappointed in the way we came out of halftime,” Fleming said. “Our transition defense wasn’t there, and neither was our communication.”

The Bonnies were plagued by 26 team turnovers, which Fleming said continues to be a major issue for them as the season progresses.

“We’re one of the worst teams in the country at taking care of the ball,” he said, “and we’re never going to take a step forward if we don’t improve that.”

SBU has averaged 20 turnovers per game this season.

On the offensive side for the Bonnies, Dajah Logan and Asianae Johnson led the way with nine points each. Claudia Del Moral had six rebounds and nine points.

The Bonnies will now go on the road to play Akron on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
